Dear Parent, Carer and Students,

Year 11 Mock Exams Tuesday 24th November 2020 – Thursday 17th December 2020

Please find attached a copy of the full Mock Exam Timetable and practical mock days in Performing Arts, Art and Design, and Textiles for the end of this half-term. This clearly shows the time at which examinations take place. Please read this carefully.

We will be abiding by the guidelines as laid out by JCQ – Joint Council for Qualifications, for the conduct of examinations during the Coronavirus pandemic.  It is vital that students follow the guidelines and do not attend school if either themselves or any family member are displaying symptoms of Covid-19, are awaiting a test result, or have tested positive.

The government are adamant that examinations are the best way to assess Year 11 students this year but we feel a full mock-examination process is vital to providing both the school, and if requested the exam boards, an indication of how the students have performed at this time, should it be necessary.

For morning examinations, students should go directly to the Sports Hall for 9.00am. Please note that during the examination sessions your break time may be delayed allowing longer exams to be completed. Students not involved in examinations should attend their normal morning lessons.

For afternoon examinations, Year 11 will be on first sitting for lunch during this exam period, and students should report to the Sports Hall for 12.50pm. Students not involved in examinations should attend their normal afternoon lessons.

If an afternoon exam finishes before the end of the school day, students will be released early and allowed to go home. If you DO NOT want your child leaving school early, please can you let the school know as soon as possible. Students who use school transport can wait in school.

If students are uncertain about any of the arrangements, it is essential that, in the first instance, they speak to their Form Tutor for clarification.

Students, I wish you every success for your examinations, which are extremely important. I know that you will have been putting lots of work into your revision and working hard with your teachers to ensure the very best preparation.

Yours faithfully,

Mr A McNaughton
