School Closure for inclement weather

The decision to close the school is never taken lightly and is always a difficult one. In reaching this decision, a number of important factors were carefully considered these include: Weighing up the benefits of remaining open against the risks to vulnerable students and staff. Unsafe temperatures in parts of the school building, and the resulting impact this is having on catering and other essential services. Other schools and childcare settings are also closing, and many staff need to make arrangements for their own children. All Learning Community Trust Schools will be partially closed tomorrow.

Dear Parents/Carers,

RE: School Closure for inclement weather

The decision to close the school is never taken lightly and is always a difficult one. In reaching this decision, a number of important factors were carefully considered these include:

  • Weighing up the benefits of remaining open against the risks to vulnerable students and staff.
  • Unsafe temperatures in parts of the school building, and the resulting impact this is having on catering and other essential services.
  • Other schools and childcare settings are also closing, and many staff need to make arrangements for their own children.

All Learning Community Trust Schools will be partially closed tomorrow.

To ensure continuity of learning, remote learning has been provided for all students in line with their scheduled timetable. The timings of the sessions are as follows:

  • Lesson 1 – 9.15am – 10.15am: Students to complete PD work set via satchel one.
  • Lesson 2 – 10.15 – 11.15am

BREAKTIME

  • Lesson 3 – 11.35am – 12.35pm
  • Lesson 4 – 12.35pm – 1.35pm

LUNCHTIME

  • Lesson 5 – 2.10pm – 3.10pm

Students should access their lessons and resources through the Microsoft Teams platform. For the majority of lessons, these will include live input from the Teacher. Staff will be available to support learning throughout the day.

Please reassure your child that, give the short notice, they should not worry is they are unable to access the work immediately or they experience any technical difficulties. Our Staff will be understanding and supportive.

Whilst we recognise the disruption that a closure causes for families, the safety of our school community must remain our highest priority. I would therefore like to apologise for any inconvenience this decision may cause and thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Should this present challenges, we will remain open as an emergency provision for students that meet the criteria below. The provision will match the schedule above. The students will be provided with ICT access so that they can attend their online lessons in school. The criteria for attendance includes:

    • Vulnerable students (EHCP/LAC/Children with a Social Worker)
    • Students who do not have access to remote learning from home

Please complete the form by 7pm on 24/06 if you require your child to attend the emergency provision:

Vulnerable Students - School Closure – Fill in form

Please note that the canteen will be closed therefore we ask that students that are attending are provided with a packed lunch and water bottle. If your child is in receipt of free school meals, please indicate on the form that you would like lunch to be provided.

We hope that everyone remains safe, particularly around open water and in direct sunlight.

Further information will be provided regarding the plans for Friday once these have been confirmed.

Yours sincerely

Mrs S Barton
