22.05.20 LCT Update to Parents

Dear Parents,

We have spent another week trying to make key decisions for our schools to extend their opening and preparing for this. We have always believed that the 1st June was very provisional and we were awaiting further guidance from the Government and medical experts.

We have taken the decision, based on the SAGE report published this morning NOT to extend the opening of any of our schools on Monday 1st June.

This report clearly indicates that a delay to the 8th June or even the 15th June will significantly diminish the risk to our children and our staff. This gives us further time to ensure our risk assessments and buildings are absolutely ready and that we have ensured the safety of all our children and staff.

We will review the situation during the week of the 1st June and make further decisions once we have a clear indication that the rate of infection in our area is declining and continuing to decline. We will be in touch and give you an update during the week of the 1st June so you are informed of our plans.

We will continue with supporting Home Learning after half term, and to provide the provision for key worker children and our vulnerable children so rotas will be in place for staff to support this.

It has been another challenging week trying to navigate through this complex set of issues around schools reopening.

Thank you for your continued support as we try to make the right decisions for our community.

My best wishes to you and your families,

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Gill Eatough
