Charlton School

All students in Year 7, 8 and 9 will be completing progress tests in English and Maths.

We have scheduled these for Tuesday 18th April (English) and Wednesday 19th April (Maths).  The tests will take one hour each and they will be completed by most students in our main sports hall under formal exam conditions. This is a great opportunity to experience a formal exam setting and is good preparation for GCSE exams.

We are using a national progress test programme from GL Assessment as it provides us with a range of information that we can use to identify strengths and gaps in knowledge, which will enable us to support your child as they move through the school. If your child is in Years 8 or 9, you may remember receiving the reports for these tests in September, as we completed them at the end of the summer term last year.

We have decided to complete them earlier this year so that we can share the results with you before the summer holidays.

Your child does not need to revise for these tests; however, we expect them to arrive with a positive mindset, ready to do the best they can.

They will need to bring a pen, pencil, ruler and calculator (Maths only).

I have included a link to a presentation I have shared with the students, so that you have more information about the process.

If your child has additional needs, this has been considered and we have been working closely with the SEND department to ensure support is appropriate.

If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs J Ventress

Assistant Vice Principal
