The lesson 6 sessions have historically been used with Year 11 over the past 3 years to provide targeted support to enhance students’ progress in that specific subject.  The sessions serve a variety of purposes from coursework support, revision, refining  exam technique and addressing specific gaps in students’ knowledge.  In response to the latest lockdown we have decided that we will start these intervention sessions with our current Year 10 students earlier than planned to provide them with as much time as possible to address gaps in their learning.

Students will receive a letter every two weeks via their tutor trays which provides them with a timetable of the sessions that their class teachers have requested they attend.  It may be that students are not required to attend the Lesson 6 session on every occasion, as it is dependent on what the class teacher is focusing on that week.  Class teachers will request specific students from their classes to attend these sessions, however if you feel your son/daughter would like to attend every session, please ask them to speak to their class teacher.

Year 10 will be receiving their first Lesson 6 letter on Thursday 1st April, which will include a timetable of what sessions they are required to attend the week beginning 19th and 26th April.

If for any reason your son/daughter cannot attend the session due to attending an appointment or transport issues, please ask them to inform their class teacher.

I hope that these sessions will provide Year 10 with a chance to address any gaps in their knowledge before they start Year 11 in September, and I encourage you to discuss the timetable with your son/daughter each week so you are aware when they are needed to stay in school till 4.10pm.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Yours faithfully

Mr James Foster

Vice Principal (Quality of Education)
