Last Day of Term Arrangements

I am writing to confirm the arrangements for events as we run up to the Christmas holidays.

6th December 2023

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing to confirm the arrangements for events as we run up to the Christmas holidays.

Christmas Concert – Tuesday 19th December 2023 – 7:00pm start in school

Christmas Lunch – Thursday 21st December 2023

Non-Uniform Day - Friday 22nd December 2023

Last Day of Term - Friday 22nd December 2023 – 1:30pm finish

On the last day of term, Friday 22nd December, we will be finishing at the earlier time of 1:30pm, all students will need to leave site at this time.  A full food service of break and lunch will be available to students during the day.  The 103 and 104 bus routes will be replaced by two A-Star Transport coaches who have agreed to take students from our rural community home at this time to prevent them having to wait until after our normal school closure time. These coaches will be in the layby on Whitchurch Road and not the public service layby on Apley Avenue.

On Friday 22nd December we will be holding a non-uniform day, for the cost of £1 students can wear their own clothes.  We encourage students to wear something Christmassy! Money raised will be split between Save The Children and the Learning Community Trust Food Bank.

On Thursday 21st December we will be holding our Christmas lunch, there will also be an additional limited menu on offer. The cost is £2.55 for a main course and pudding. Children who wish to take up this option will need to ensure that their canteen account has had funds added to it prior to this date.

On Tuesday 19th December, we will be holding our annual Christmas concert.  Due to the size of the event, we have now outgrown the church facilities and we have made the decision to hold the concert on the school site in our main hall.  The concert will start at 7:00pm and tickets will be available to purchase from our Finance Office.

As a school we see it as one of our key responsibilities to support our own community.  Once again, this year we will be doing our Christmas collection to put together parcels and gifts to give out to our own community, to families for whom Christmas is a challenging period.
Week commencing 4th December - Toiletries and gift sets
Week commencing 11th December - All food donations (non-perishable items that could be used by families to brighten up their Christmas)
Week commencing 18th December (collection up until Wednesday 20th December) - Any Christmas gifts for families for children and adults of any age.

Thank you in advance for the wonderful support you have given to this collection over the past two Christmases.  It has made a real difference to members of our school community.  Any donations from students and families can be handed in to reception.

I will write to you again before we break up to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Yours sincerely,

Mr A McNaughton
