Learning to play a musical instrument has so many benefits - whether it is building you child’s confidence, enhancing their memory, or widening their social circle. A new study published in the ‘Journal of Educational Psychology’ also reported that secondary school students who play musical instruments achieved significantly higher in Science, Maths and English exams, than their non-musical peers.

Telford & Wrekin Music has been delivering instrumental and vocal tuition in schools since April 2007. They work closely with the Music department at Charlton to provide a number of high-quality opportunities for making music. Tutors from Telford and Wrekin deliver one to one and small group lessons at Charlton in the following instruments: guitar, drums, ukulele, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, French horn, cello, violin, keyboard and singing. If students opt for a woodwind or brass instrument, they may borrow an instrument from Telford & Wrekin, completely free of charge. It is worth noting that guitar, drums and keyboard instruments will not be available to hire, however they are available in our practice rooms for students to use at break and lunchtimes.

As well as instrumental and singing lessons, Telford and Wrekin also run a number of group activities which are free to Charlton students, or those who have instrumental lessons with a Telford and Wrekin tutor. These activities include the Telford and Wrekin Orchestra, The Music Academy, Rock School and Strings Ensemble. By signing up to the free Music lessons, students will also be able to access these groups, free of charge.

If you are interested in this fantastic opportunity, please complete the application form through Telford and Wrekin before the end of term, to guarantee a place.

Yours faithfully,
