11.01.2022 LCT Update to all Parents and Carers

I apologise that I am having to send out new information on testing, we have had further changes to testing and PCR tests from today.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are well.

I apologise that I am having to send out new information on testing, we have had further changes to testing and PCR tests from today.

The new guidance is:

• If your child has a positive result on a LFT then you do NOT need to have a confirmatory PCR test. If your child has Covid-19 symptoms, or you have been advised to take a PCR test because you or your child are clinically vulnerable, your child must go for a PCR Test. Get a free PCR test to check if you have coronavirus (COVID-19) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). Where there is a positive test result on the LFT, the isolation period starts from the date of the positive test. Your child needs to isolate for 10 days, but on Day 6 and Day 7 you can do a LFT and if both results are negative your child can return to school on Day 7.

• If there has been a positive case of Covid in your child’s class your school will notify you. We ask that in order to reduce transmission and keep children in school, you test your child each morning, using a LFT every day for 7 days, before sending them to school. If this is an issue for your child, please take advice from your school.

• We strongly urge parents and carers of secondary age students to continue the twice weekly LFTs.

• If your child is unwell, keep them at home whist they are unwell and do a LFT each morning. You can send to them school as soon as they are well and have had a negative LFT. If they have a positive result on any day and now have Covid symptoms, you will need to take them for a PCR Test and start the isolation period.

You can order LFT using the following link: https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests
I hope this clarifies the procedures you need to follow and please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school if you need further advice.

Kind Regards,

Dr. Gill Eatough
