Welcome Back from Principal

Welcome Back! It has been lovely having all the students back in school today. There has been a real buzz of excitement for the new academic year ahead.

Welcome Back! It has been lovely having all the students back in school today. There has been a real buzz of excitement for the new academic year ahead.

We have taken time to speak with all year groups in the first two days to remind them of our expectations in relation to uniform, behaviour, attitudes to learning and attendance and punctuality. We make no apologies for expecting the highest standards of behaviour at Charlton and thank you for your support in advance to ensure that we achieve these high standards.

Whilst most students have returned dressed immaculately in full school uniform, a small number have not.  In particular, a few students have returned in leggings, excess jewellery and are wearing jumpers instead of blazers. Please take time to familiarise yourself with our uniform expectations and ensure where possible that your child leaves home in the morning appropriately dressed. Details can be found on our website here: Uniform | Charlton School

Please can I also remind families that students need to be on site by 8:40am, ready to enter the school building to ensure teaching can start promptly at 8:45am.  Any student who enters school after 8:45am will be recorded as late and receive a break-time detention.

At the start of the academic year, we have new colleagues starting at Charlton. I am sure students and families will join me in extending a warm welcome to them.

Whilst not new to the school, Mrs Ventress and Mrs Vickers have taken up the positions of my Vice-Principals and we have been joined on the senior team by two new Assistant Vice-Principals: Mrs Bithell and Mr Redman. Details of the senior team and their roles can be found here: Senior Leadership Team | Charlton School

We look forward to working with you this year to provide the very best educational opportunities for your child.

Yours faithfully,

Mr A McNaughton
