Charlton School

Message from the Principal 24.09.21

Thank you for your support and understanding through what has been a challenging couple of weeks due to coronavirus cases in school.  It is with regret that we had to take the decision to postpone next week’s Year 7 residential trip to the Pioneer Centre, but we are in the process of agreeing new dates for later in the year.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for your support and understanding through what has been a challenging couple of weeks due to coronavirus cases in school.  It is with regret that we had to take the decision to postpone next week’s Year 7 residential trip to the Pioneer Centre, but we are in the process of agreeing new dates for later in the year.

I am grateful for your efforts in home testing, this has certainly been helpful in identifying asymptomatic cases that would have otherwise been in school.  It is vital that all students continue to test as a minimum twice weekly (Sunday night or Monday morning and Wednesday night or Thursday morning), this will continue throughout the autumn term.  Additional test kits will be distributed to all students when we receive them from NHS Test and Trace, but we still have a number of boxes available now that students can collect from reception if they have no tests remaining.

In stepping up the measures to prevent further transmission, we asked all staff and students to wear face coverings from Wednesday.  It is an expectation that face coverings are worn by all students at all times, whilst indoors in school, this includes communal areas and classrooms.  The only time students should remove their face coverings indoors are when they are sat in the canteen area eating at break and lunch.  Please ensure you have provided your child with a face covering.  These measures will be reviewed at the end of next week, and so coverings will be required until at least then.  If your child is exempt from wearing a face mask for health reasons, or if you wish to withdraw consent for your child to wear a face covering, please contact school reception.

Aside from Coronavirus it has been wonderful to see our students engaging well, both in their lessons but also in the wide range of extra-curricular activities available to them.  Please encourage your child to take part as fully as they can in all that Charlton has to offer.  Further details of clubs and activities can be found on our website at http://charlton.uk.com/parent-student-information/extra-curricular.

Please continue to take sensible precautions this weekend to reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission in the community.

Yours faithfully,

Mr McNaughton

Principal
