05.06.20 LCT Update to Parents

Dear parents,

I hope you and your families are safe and well. It is a shock to see the weather change in the last few days but I am sure we will see a return to sunny days.

It has been another very busy week as we prepare for the extended opening of our schools. This has involved detailed risk assessments being finalised, significant work on the buildings to manage our children and staff safely as well as training staff in new ways of working. The staff have been brilliant and are really looking forward to welcoming children back to school.

From Monday 8^th June we will extend the opening of HLC Primary and Wrekin View Primary to Nursery, Reception, Y1 and Y6 children. Parents of these children will receive, by today, detailed information on how children will come into school and their day in school. We are asking parents not to enter our buildings as we need to ensure we minimise the number of other adults in school. If you have concerns or wish to discuss anything then please telephone or email. I have been around all the buildings this week, they look incredibly well prepared and welcoming.

From Monday 15^th June we will be extending the opening of Charlton, Ercall Wood and HLC Secondary to Y10 students on a rota basis. Parents of these students will receive information and phone calls next week regarding individual timetables to the end of the summer term.

Queensway will be extending the opening of both sites, in discussion with parents, across year groups.

We will continue to have a provision for key worker children and our vulnerable children on a daily basis across all schools. We are seeing these numbers rise as parents return to work and we need to ensure that we can meet their needs as well as extend our opening of schools.

I think we are all feeling very positive as it feels we are getting back to our core business, and having children in our buildings will make such a difference.

It does seem, at this stage, that we will not be extending the opening of our schools but we will continue to support Home Learning as best as we can for those not in school.

I have asked the Department for Education their plans for schools from September but as yet I have no information, I suspect we will not know for some time, but we will do whatever we need to do to support our children and young people as plans are released.
