Dear parent / carer,

I am sure, like us, you have been taken aback by the government’s announcement tonight about the suspension of the summer GCSE examinations.

As a school we have no further information, other than what has been shared in the media this evening.  As soon as we have further clarification or any update on information, we will share this with you.

We appreciate that this will be an incredibly stressful and unsettling time for your children.  Please try to reassure them that we will continue to do all we can to fully prepare them ready for whatever is required of them, to be rewarded with the grades and qualifications they have been working towards.

Considering the government’s announcement tonight, we have taken the decision to cancel tomorrow and Friday’s formal science mock examinations, we see little value in adding to the stresses of the students at this time.  It maybe that they still complete the assessments but in a less formal class environment.  All students will remain in school until 3:00pm

I can reassure you, everyone at Charlton and the Learning Community Trust, will do all we can to ensure that these unprecedented actions will not impact on the future of your children.
