Update 30.04.21
Dear Parents and carers,

I hope you are well and managed to see more of your family and friends over the last couple of weeks.

The national figures are very encouraging, and it does feel as if we are emerging from COVID. We are still maintaining all our measures in schools to ensure we are vigilant and keep staff and children in school. I am sure we will be given further guidance in late May as to the use of masks and how we will be allowed to relax some of the restrictions we have in place. Thank you for all you are doing to support our schools ensuring, in our secondary age students, that they are doing twice weekly LF tests. This will continue until half-term and schools will keep sending test kits home. All our staff are also testing twice each week.

Over the Easter holidays there was a small spike in cases in Hadley and Leegomery and we are working with the Health Protection Hub to support wider testing just to make sure there is no further spread of cases.
What is really positive is that we do feel that we are back focussed on education. I have been in all our schools over the last 10 days, and it is great to see so many children and young people in school and staff doing a brilliant job with them. We are already beginning to have more extra-curricular activities and planning some visits and trips in the second half of the summer term. These are the important parts of school life as well as being in the classroom.

We are planning normal Y6 to Y7 transition days in July and all three secondary schools will be offering a summer school to our new Y7 students as part of the Government’s “catch up” strategy. These will be a combination of social, sport and fun activities as well as some support in preparing for the secondary curriculum.
Congratulations to Charlton and Wrekin View who have gained awards from Wellington Council for their work over the last year.

We welcome Dawn Mitchell to the LCT staff as a new Education Welfare Officer, Dawn joins our Attendance and Welfare Team, working in our schools supporting families particularly at Queensway and Severndale.

Please remember that you can access support at our Community Fridge at Wrekin View or the LCT Food Hub at HLC campus.
Enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend and my best wishes to you and your family.

Kind Regards
Dr. Gill Eatough
