New Home Learning Resources

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope that you managed to have an enjoyable Easter holiday despite the current circumstances.  The purpose of this letter is to remind you of the expectations for the first part of the new term which was outlined before the end of term, and some updates on home learning resources.

  1. Staff will be uploading to Doddle a three or six week learning overview for each subject (this will be dependent on each curriculum area due to the variation in the numbers of lessons that students have for each subject).  This will provide students with a wider context of the work that they are completing and give them a more visual way to see the links between the learning activities that they are completing.
  2. We have asked staff to contact students on a regular basis, this may be fortnightly or every half term depending on the curriculum area.
  3. The context of this contact will vary depending on the curriculum area.  It may take the form of an email to check how students are getting on with the set work or provide them with instructions on how to complete a piece of work that will be assessed by the teacher.  Any work that is being assessed by the teacher will be set as ‘homework’ within Doddle, as opposed to normal home learning tasks which are set within ‘classwork’.  These assessed tasks are vital for teachers as they will provide us with information on gaps in students’ knowledge which we can then address when students return to school.

There are also two new home learning resources that have been released in response to the current closure of schools and both provide excellent materials for students. Both went live on Monday 20th April.

  1. The Oak National Academy Online where there are 4 hours per day of lessons for secondary students. The link for this is below:

  1. Bitesize Daily provides three new lessons every weekday (which includes a range of activities and videos for different subjects).

Thank you again for your continued support during this time. Best wishes and good health.

Yours faithfully
