As we reach the half-way point in the summer term, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Year 11 students on the fantastic start they have made with their exams

Dear Parent/Carer

As we reach the half-way point in the summer term, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Year 11 students on the fantastic start they have made with their exams.  They have shown all three of our school values: Respect – their behaviour has been exemplary, Responsibility – they are dedicating large amounts of time to revision, even attending breakfast sessions, and Resilience - despite the challenges the last two years have provided they are giving it their all and will be hopefully rewarded for their efforts.

After half-term, Year 11 will continue to attend all lessons they have exams remaining for, where they have subjects that have finished completely, they can study at home.  We will of course provide classrooms for them to study in should they wish to come in to school at this time.

As Year 11 move towards the end of their exams, it is time for Year 10 to step-up and become the role models for the other year groups.  Student leadership positions are being applied for and to recognise their transition to their final year, Year 10 students can wear white shirts after half-term, if they wish to do so.

We have had a successful half-term on the sports front, with many of our football teams competing in semi-finals and finals, and we have even managed to win a few trophies for the cabinet! Congratulations to all students who have represented the school so far, this academic year.

When we return after half-term, we will be celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee at our annual Charltonbury Festival, being held on 10th June, from 4.00pm till 8.00pm.  This year's Festival combines music with family activities, stalls and sideshows and a host of refreshment choices, and will have the theme of celebrating multicultural Britain in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee. There is also an Arts and Crafts marketplace and food festival, including Southeast Asian, Caribbean and hot dog food stalls, cakes, pancakes and of course, an ice cream van, slush and candyfloss for those with a sweet tooth!

Year 11 take time to rest but keep up your hard work – it will be worth it!

Have a relaxing holiday.

Yours faithfully

Mr A McNaughton

Principal
