Welcome to Charlton School. We are delighted that you have chosen our school to support the education and development of your child over the next five years. Our vision is to nurture happy, healthy young people who have the knowledge, academic achievement, and strength of character to lead safe and successful lives in modern Britain, preparing them for their next steps in education or employment with a thirst for lifelong learning. We are certain that your child will be very happy at Charlton. We also view partnerships with our families as central to our success and would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to the Charlton community.
At Charlton we pride ourselves in providing our new students and parents a smooth and successful transition from Primary to Secondary school. This is a crucial time in any child’s development, and we aim to ensure they are as prepared as they can be when September arrives. Outlined below are details of the key events in which we hope to make the transition to Charlton School as enjoyable as possible.
In addition to our events detailed above, we are also working to provide an extended transition for a small number of students identified by their primary school. You will be contacted on an individual basis if your child is invited to take part in one of the following programmes: The Jon Egging Transition Scheme, Voice 21, or the Family Learning extended transition.
As I am sure you can appreciate some of the events detailed above were unable to go ahead as planned last year, where it is not possible to run events due to COVID restrictions in 2021 we ran them virtually. We are very hopeful that all events will be face to face again this year, however, will be in communication with you should the situation change.
Please see the document attached which aims to answer the most frequent questions from students, parents and carers. There is also a wealth of information on the school website which can be found on the transition page by following this link: http://charlton.uk.com/parent-student-information/transition/frequently-asked-student-questions-2022. During next term we will send out our welcome pack with further information and forms for you to complete. We please ask that upon receipt you complete the Admission Forms, containing the Home School Agreement, and return them to the school as soon as possible.
We look forward to meeting with you and wish your child every happiness and success. Should you have any queries or wish to give us any information concerning your child, please contact the school.
