Charlton School

Transition 2023

Welcome to Charlton School. We are delighted that you have chosen our school to support the education and development of your child over the next five years. Our vision is to nurture happy, healthy young people who have the knowledge, academic achievement, and strength of character to lead safe and successful lives in modern Britain, preparing them for their next steps in education or employment with a thirst for lifelong learning.  We are certain that your child will be very happy at Charlton.  We also view partnerships with our families as central to our success and would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to the Charlton community.

At Charlton we pride ourselves in providing our new students and parents a smooth and successful transition from Primary to Secondary school. This is a crucial time in any child’s development, and we aim to ensure they are as prepared as they can be when September arrives. Outlined below are details of the key events in which we hope to make the transition to Charlton School as enjoyable as possible.

In addition to the events detailed above, we are also working to provide an extended transition for a small number of students identified by their primary school. You will be contacted on an individual basis if your child is invited to take part in one of the following programmes: Performing Arts Transition Scheme, Voice 21, or the Family Learning extended transition.

Once students start with us in September, they are offered the opportunity to attend our outward bound residential trip to the Pioneer Centre in Cleobury Mortimer. This helps them to meet new people and build confidence and resilience. Further information about the centre can be found by clicking on the link: https://activity-centres.naycacuk.co.uk/pioneer-centre/. The trip is booked for the 27th to the 29th of September, further information on how to book a place for your child will be sent out with the welcome pack.

Please see the frequently asked questions from students, parents and carers by clicking on the box below. There is also a wealth of information on the school website which can be found on the transition page by following this link: https://www.charlton.uk.com/parent-student-information/transition-2023/frequently-asked-questions-2023

We look forward to meeting with you and wish your child every happiness and success. Should you have any queries or wish to give us any information regarding your child, please contact the school.
