Setting Targets

All pupils are set a GCSE target for each subject.  We then track their progress towards meeting this target.

In order to set this target we use information from various sources including:

Fischer Family Trust

Midyis and Yellis tests

Prior attainment in SATs and internal tests.

We use Fischer Family Trust D estimates.  These estimate the GCSE grade the top 25% of similar students might be expected to achieve in a similar school.  Please click here for more information on Fischer Family Trust estimates.

All students in year 7 take the MidYIS test, followed by the Yellis test in Year 10.

The School uses these to monitor students’ skills in Vocabulary, Mathematics, and Non-verbal or Pattern skills.
Students receive a standardised score for each skill with the average being 100.
Students are also allocated a band from A-D. Students achieving a score in the top 25% of results nationally are allocated band A.

Below is an example of the results from a Yellis test.

This student has scored above average in all the skill areas.
They are in band B overall.
