Curriculum Information
Our aim is to provide pupils coming to Charlton, whatever their background, abilities, talents or interests, with an educational base of knowledge, skills, aptitudes and understanding which will provide solid foundations for further and higher education. The School’s concern with pupils’ self development and their preparation for the demands of society is expressed through the curriculum.
In Year 7 students will be placed in classes in order to achieve a balance of abilities and interests. Staff then exercise their professional expertise to group students; in some subjects children are placed in sets according to ability; in other subjects they are taught as mixed ability groups.
