Community

Charlton School is a focal point in its local community and actively works to foster better relationships. We aim to meet the needs of children and improve outcomes for the whole child.

As a specialist college for Science and Maths, we work closely with our six main primary partners to support and promote high standards of teaching and learning. Specialist teachers visit our primary colleagues on a weekly basis to offer additional opportunities to enhance learning. These have included workshops, team teaching, national subject challenges and special projects.

We have strong links with Keele University and are a satellite school for their Science Learning Centre. We arrange an annual a university experience day for Year 6 students and stage annual subject conferences on the Charlton site that have included Science, Maths and Languages.

These activities are part of a rich programme of events focused on the transition process for Key Stage 2, Key Stage 4 and the world of work. We also have an active Parent Partnership group that have held successful events that address community needs on a range of topics including internet safety, drug education and parenting skills. Our partnership work provides equal opportunities for all to succeed at the highest level possible, striving to remove barriers to access and participation in learning and wider activities.

We hope the community section of this website will be visited regularly by parents to share in the range of opportunities we have already made available and to get news of up and coming events.
